The Story
From an early age, Khalid Cook, also known as Khalid Hemida, was driven by an instinctive curiosity to understand how things worked and, more importantly, how they could be built differently. His introduction to computers at the age of nine marked the beginning of a lifelong relationship with technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
What began with a fascination for computers and online gaming soon developed into a practical understanding of technology and its possibilities. As a young teenager, Khalid began providing technical support to internet cafés in exchange for access to the technology that fascinated him. By the age of 15, he had taken his first steps into entrepreneurship, establishing a company that sold U.S.-based servers and helped customers maintain reliable online connectivity across cities in Egypt.
Although the venture lasted only a year, the experience became an important foundation for Khalid's entrepreneurial journey. It introduced him early to the realities of building and managing a business, teaching him lessons that would later shape his approach to leadership, risk, and innovation.
With greater experience and a clearer vision, Khalid returned to the technology sector and founded a company that became the first globally to offer offshore hosting services while accepting cryptocurrency as a payment method. The decision reflected his willingness to explore emerging technologies long before they became mainstream. After six years of leading the company, he successfully exited the business and, in 2014, founded HostSailor, developing it into a recognized name in hosting and digital infrastructure.
In 2016, Khalid expanded his entrepreneurial portfolio by establishing IPv4Mall, a company specializing in IPv4 brokerage and digital infrastructure assets. His interest in emerging technologies continued to take him beyond conventional business models. He travelled to China to explore cryptocurrency mining firsthand, deepening his understanding of blockchain technologies and digital assets. His technical expertise subsequently led to opportunities as a cryptocurrency advisor in Dubai, further establishing his presence within the rapidly evolving blockchain sector.
In 2019, Khalid's professional journey took an unexpected but deeply personal turn. Motivated by a desire to protect his father, acclaimed Egyptian actor Mahmoud Hemida, from online impersonation and misrepresentation, he founded DIGITISED. What began as a personal mission quickly evolved into a broader digital and creative enterprise.
DIGITISED initially focused on event coverage and film production before expanding into a diverse range of services, including podcasts, interviews, search engine optimization, public relations, media buying, and digital content creation. Through the company, Khalid brought together technology, storytelling, media, and creative production to build a platform capable of shaping narratives and connecting audiences with authentic stories.
His commitment to preserving identity and cultural heritage became even more prominent in 2023 with the launch of Project D, an initiative under DIGITISED dedicated to protecting Egypt's tangible, intangible, and natural heritage. What began as a tribute to the country's artistic and cinematic legacy evolved into a broader mission focused on documenting, preserving, and celebrating the cultural identity of Egypt for future generations.
Khalid also developed DClacket, a platform dedicated to authentic coverage of festivals, entertainment, and cultural trends. Through its work, the platform seeks to move beyond superficial coverage and provide audiences with meaningful stories, genuine perspectives, and a closer connection to the people and creative communities shaping Egypt's cultural landscape.
Today, Khalid's vision extends beyond the success of individual companies. He sees technology, infrastructure, media, and culture as interconnected forces capable of creating meaningful and sustainable impact. One of his long-term ambitions is to bring HostSailor, IPv4Mall, and DIGITISED closer together, allowing their respective strengths to support one another. HostSailor's technological infrastructure, IPv4Mall's expertise in digital assets, and DIGITISED's creative and cultural capabilities could collectively provide a powerful foundation for expanding Project D and amplifying its mission.
He also envisions bringing HostSailor and IPv4Mall to Egypt through regional operations that can provide access to world-class digital infrastructure and services while creating employment opportunities, supporting local talent, and contributing to greater awareness of digital transformation.
At the heart of Khalid Cook's journey is a belief that innovation should serve a purpose beyond business. His career has moved naturally between technology, entrepreneurship, blockchain, media, and cultural preservation, yet the underlying motivation has remained consistent: to build, protect, and create something that lasts.
Khalid is not defined solely by the companies he has founded or the industries he has entered. He represents a generation of entrepreneurs who see technology not simply as a commercial opportunity, but as a tool for connection, creativity, preservation, and progress. His story is one of continuous curiosity transformed into enterprise, and ambition transformed into purpose.
